What is an EICR?
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a thorough inspection and test of a property's fixed wiring, sockets, consumer unit and circuits. It highlights anything that's unsafe or needs attention, so you can put it right.
Who needs one?
- Landlords — private landlords in England must have the electrics inspected and tested at least every five years
- Buyers and sellers — useful peace of mind before or after a move
- Businesses — often required by insurers
- Homeowners — recommended roughly every ten years
